In the AMMS Lab, we seek to advance in the design, synthesis, and analysis of advanced materials that exhibit unprecedented properties and functionalities.
To achieve this goal, our research approach integrates theoretical principles from various disciplines including solid mechanics, material science, and physics, with computational and experimental tools. More specifically, through controlled experiments, and informed by numerical and analytical studies, we seek to understand how nonlinearities observed at distinct length and time scales can be controlled and used as design variables for the design of new materials and mechanical systems.
Our research approach falls across the spectrum of fundamental and applied research. Areas of interest include healthcare, defense, robotics, civil infrastructure, mechanical engineering, and aerospace engineering.
